Ethan Bear Spoke Out Over Racist Remarks Following His Girlfriend Calling Out Fans

Edmonton Oilers player Ethan Bear has come out about recent racist messages he has been receiving on social media. It was revealed fans were sending him racist messages after his girlfriend took to Twitter to let everyone know to cool it. Bear spoke about it in a video released by the Oilers.

"I'm here to stand up to this behaviour… I'm proud of where I come from. I'm proud to be from Ochapowace First Nation. I'm not just doing this for myself. I'm doing this for all people of colour & for the next generation."

Bear wore a jersey with his Indigenous last name earlier in the season also makes an impact with his community hosting a hockey camp in the Ochapowace First Nation where he is from.
