Stephen A. Smith has worked his entire adult life to make it rich. And he’s certainly done that. Stephen A. is ESPN’s highest paid on air personality, but it didn’t happen overnight. Stephen A. Smith has put in the work, and he’s become the face of ESPN. Some fans don’t like others to do well, and have called out Stephen A. for making too much money.
The comment was a result of reporter Stefano Fusaro announcing she’s leaving ESPN.

ESPN laying off talented people to pay for fat salaries like @stephenasmith and @maxkellerman to embarrass the platform is saddening. https://t.co/KG7EXmXlvf

Stephen A. responded to the tweet, which has since gone private.
You might be able to get over it if you'd done your damn homework. I generate revenue clown. I bring money to help KEEP JOBS, not lose them. Know who the F&^%$ you're talking about before opening your mouth. If you didn't know you should've asked somebody. https://t.co/vSaE7BDBJe

Far be it from me to defend Stephen A Smith, but he's right.
Stephen is not the CEO of ESPN or Disney, he's the talent. He's part of the labor force, and his on-screen labor is what allows his crew to have jobs.
Stephen's labor has value, it's ESPN execs who should take cuts. https://t.co/WnBTpw17vd

This is exactly why Stephen A. gets paid the big bucks. People can’t help talking about the man known as Screaming A. Say what you want about him, he does exactly what he gets paid to do.
If not for Stephen A., how many people would actually be talking about ESPN?
No one should ever worry about what someone else is making, it’s no one’s business.
