Deshaun Watson Trade Rumors Swirling Ahead of NFL Draft

Is Deshaun Watson still on the trade block? The Houston Texans were getting ready to grant Deshaun Watson’s request to get him shipped out of town, this of course was before all the sexual allegations against him surfaced.

Via Chron.com:

“The Texans’ plan was to get the most serious teams into a bidding war before general manager Nick Caserio — with Cal McNair’s approval — accepted the best offer that, ideally, would have included at least three first-round picks, two second-round picks and a defensive starter.”

Now that the draft is almost here, once again the trade rumors are being brought up.

Via Pro Football Talk:

“There’s still a scenario in which the Texans trade quarterback Deshaun Watson before, during, or immediately after the draft.

The door swings open to a trade if Watson and his 22 accusers reach a global settlement of the civil lawsuits that have been filed against him. That will require plenty of work by the lawyers. The fact that the lawyers have been so quiet since last Friday’s status conference invites speculation that the lawyers are focusing their time and attention on a push to resolve the cases at a time when the claims have maximum settlement value for the plaintiffs.”

A trade seems unlikely,  because any team that is willing to take Watson on assumes the risk he’ll never even play for them.  Unless it’s a complete fire sale, taking a flyer on Watson wouldn’t really be worth the risk.

We shall see what happens.  Watson definitely needs a change of scenery, but more importantly,  he needs to try to settle with as many accusers as possible.
