Colin Cowherd Lobbies With USC To “Think Big” When Replacing Clay Helton, Proceeds To Mention Doug Pederson

FS1 Colin Cowherd is sick and tired of the same old story with USC football.

After the Trojans finally made the decision to fire Clay Helton following his six-plus years of leading a boring, mediocre football team, Cowherd wants to see the team make a splash with their next hire.

Unfortunately for Colin Cowherd, the initial list of coaches who could be tied to the USC job didn’t include too many A-listers.

On his show “The Herd” on Tuesday, Colin Cowherd lashed out against the idea that the Trojans should pursue the likes of Matt Campbell, James Franklin, P.J Fleck, etc. He thinks an L.A. team needs to think bigger than that.

Specifically, Cowherd thinks USC needs someone with NFL experience. A guy like Doug Pederson, Anthony Lynn or Matt Nagy.

It’s not clear whether Doug Pederson or any other coach Colin Cowherd mentioned during his rant would be interested in the USC gig. But Pederson just feels like a terrible fit.

After winning the Super Bowl with the Eagles in 2017, Pederson flopped when trying to consistently contend with the Eagles, and often clashed with players on his team.

Dough Pederson’s standoffish personality simply doesn’t work with college kids. And it’s likely that Colin Cowherd will have to settle for being disappointed when USC opts to bring in someone from another college program.
