Chicago Cubs Prospect Gets Caught With A Whole Bunch Of Meth

Jesus Camargo, a minor-leaguer in the Chicago Cubs system, is in hot water this weekend over something you just don’t see every day.

Camargo had 21 pounds of meth stashed in a team duffel bag. As if that wasn’t enough, authorities found him to be in possession of 1.2 pounds of oxycodone, as well.

Jesus Camargo appeared in court earlier in the week on charges of unlawful distribution of methamphetamine and oxycodone. The charges are considered class-4 felonies.

“We are aware of the arrest of one of our Minor League players,” said Julian Green, senior vice president of communications at Chicago Cubs via USA Today. “We are investigating this matter and cannot provide additional comment until we have further details.”

It kind of seems like a slap in the face that Camargo would stash the heavy drugs in a duffel bag given to him by the team. You’d think he’d have to serve a decent amount of time behind bars if proven guilty.

While minor league players did not compete last year due to COVID, Camargo played in 2019 with class-A Myrtle Beach. The pitcher went 4-3 with a 3.59 ERA in just five games.

It’s probably a safe assumption that Jesus Camargo’s professional baseball career is over. Threw it all away to become a meth kingpin…hate to see it.
