Sha’Carri Richardson Reacts To Being Left Off Olympic Team

Olympic qualifier Sha’Carri Richardson has many fans and fellow athletes coming to her defense after she was suspended for failing a marijuana test.

While the suspension likely means the Richardson will not be competing in her individual event at the Tokyo Olympics, she could have been selected by the U.S. to be a part of the relay team.

But Sha’Carri Richardson claims she was not surprised when she was informed by the team that she will not be selected to run in Tokyo.

“Honestly, that news didn’t bother me because me and my team were realistic, so we kind of figured that they would say that in the first place,” Sha’Carri Richardson said to TMZ. “I understand the situation that’s going on. So, I’m accepting of it, and I just know what I have to do moving forward in my career.”

Sha’Carri Richardson was considered a top contender for the 100-meter dash. But she now says that she doesn’t even know if she’ll be watching the event. She said she’s likely be watching “some” of the events of TV from her home.

It’s clear that Sha’Carri Richardson has opted to take the high road with her marijuana suspension. But the rest of the world will continue to debate whether or not she should have been allowed to compete in the Tokyo games this Summer.

I mean, do we really need to continue to reprimand athletes for marijuana in this day-in-age?
