Chad Johnson Used to Call his Coaches in the Middle of the Night to Tell Them He’s Open

Chad Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, was full of surprises and antics as a star receiver. Almost a decade out of the league and stories are still coming out about the former four-time All-Pro.

When talking about his career with Brandon Marshall, he admitted that we would call both Hue Jackson and head coach Marvin Lewis at 2 am with one simple phrase before hanging up: “I’m open.”

Hue Jackson was the wide receivers coach for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2004 to 2006.

Despite the incessant phone calls, Johnson had his most productive season under Hue Jackson’s tutelage. He led the league in yards in 2006 while being named All-Pro first team two times during that stretch while netting 25 total touchdowns.

Chad Johnson was in headlines earlier this year when he claimed he took Viagra before each game in his career.

In a wild and turbulent career, he became the first Bengal to lead the league in receiving yards. Always topping the fan vote for the Pro Bowl, his career was full of flamboyancy, touchdown celebrations, name changes, performance based on hairstyles and NFL records. It is also involved plenty of drama on and off the field, fighting with coaches and ugly divorces with the teams he called home.

Until the next bizarre headline, catch Chad Johnson fighting with Skip Bayless over his HOF credentials.
