Cal McNair Releases Statement Following Asian Slur Incident

Houston Texans owner Cal McNair was the latest on a long list of owners who have said or done something negative put themselves in the news.

For McNair, it was an anti-Asian remark he made during a large gathering this week.

“I’m sorry that we couldn’t get together last year, because of the China Virus,” he said.

Shortly after the Cal McNair quote went viral, the owner released a statement to share his remorse.

“My comments at the event last May included an inappropriate choice of words,” McNair said in the statement. “I immediately apologized to people who approached me then and I apologize again now. I know how important it is to choose my words carefully. I would never want to offend anyone.”

Witnesses at the event said that the Cal McNair comment was received with a lot of head-shaking at the time.

“Everyone gasped,” one witness said, “especially the people directly across from him. He and Hannah seemed to think it was hilarious. It was dead silent.”

Cal McNair’s main issue he’s been dealing with for a while involves Deshaun Watson – and the team’s attempt to trade the star quarterback despite the many lawsuits claiming sexual assault.

It’s unclear at this time whether or not McNair will face any discipline for his China comment.
