Antoine Winfield Jr. Fined For Mocking Tyreek Hill With Peace Sign

There is no place for taunting in Roger Goodell’s NFL, and Antoine Winfield Jr. is finding  that out the hard way.

In the waning moment of Super Bowl LV, the Buccaneers cornerback gave Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill a taste of his own medicine by flashing him the “peace” sign.

Tyreek Hill is known for using the peace sign as a celebration when he scores a touchdown. He even used it to troll Winfield when he burned him earlier in the year. Just some classic back-and-forth trash talk, right? Wrong.

The NFL was unhappy with Antoine Winfield Jr’s taunt, and has now fined him for it.

Antoine Winfield talked about trolling Hill after the Super Bowl.

“It’s something I had to do. When we played earlier, he back-flipped in front of my face and gave me the peace sign. So it was only right that I gave him the peace sign back to him. It felt amazing to do that, I’m not even gonna lie.”

This was an instance where the NFL could have left it alone. Sure, give him a flag for taunting, but to fine Winfield Jr. for giving Tyreek a taste of his own medicine is pretty ridiculous to me.

Antoine Winfield Jr. is a young, fun player who plays with an edge. Why try to reign him in?
