Albert Haynesworth Calls For Boycott Of Tennessee Football After Josh Heupel Hire: ‘Systemic Racism’

I think it’s safe to say that former Tennessee defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth isn’t a fan of the team’s latest head coach hire. After firing Jeremy Pruitt “for cause” the team went and hired UCF coach Josh Heupel to take over the Vols’ program.

Haynesworth wasn’t happy that the team didn’t give a person of color a chance at the job, and wanted to see the team give wide receivers coach Tee Martin a look.

“Obviously Tennessee Vols take Tee Martin for granted!” Haynesworth wrote in a post on Facebook. “Why do (expletive) on him, hell he even reduce his salary to help the university out when he didn’t have to? Is it bc he’s black? UT won’t even interview him.”

Albert Haynesworth didn’t stop there. He added another post talking about how the latest coaching hire is just the “tip of the iceberg” for all the racism that goes on in Tennessee’s football program as well as the overall university.

Haynesworth clearly has an educated stance on the systemic racism that occurs at the University of Tennessee and he’s using his platform to speak out on that. Kudos to him.

As for the boycott? I think the team’s winning percentage will take care of that.
