Lamar Jackson Makes A Concerning Statement About The Ravens Offense On The Rich Eisen Show

The Baltimore Ravens are off to a strong 6-2 start, but it hasn’t all been smooth sailing on the offensive side. Lamar Jackson is coming off of an MVP season in 2019, however, he sits near the bottom of the league in most passing metrics this year. The Ravens QB admitted that if the team wants to be better he, himself, will have to be much better. Not long after that admission, Lamar Jackson was interviewed on the Rich Eisen show and he made a troubling comment about the Ravens’ offensive unit.

Lamar Jackson tells the @RichEisenShow that defenses sometimes “are calling out our plays, stuff like that. They know what we’re doing.”

It’s pretty safe to say that it’s not a good thing when the defense is able to call out your plays. Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens are one of the most talented teams in the NFL. However, if the defense already knows what you are going to do it doesn’t matter how much talent they have.

Despite some offensive troubles, Lamar Jackson seems to think the offense will be alright moving forward. “The passing just needs to step it up a lot. Those guys need the ball in their hands. We have to call the right plays for them guys to get the ball in their hands. We should be fine on offense,” Lamar Jackson said on Wednesday.  If that’s true, the Ravens are going to have to get a lot less predictable with their play calling.

At the end of the day, the Ravens are 6-2. Both of their losses came at the hands of very strong teams (Steelers and Chiefs). I believe Lamar Jackson when he says he is taking responsibility for an underperforming offense and that he will be better moving forward. He has proven to be very formidable in the regular season, now it’s up to him to prove he can do the same thing come playoff time.
