For a while now, ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” broadcast has fallen flat. But perhaps Al Michaels and Troy Aikman can rescue the dying program.
Yesterday, it was reported that ESPN was nearing a deal to land Aikman away from Fox to be the color man on their MNF broadcast.

Now, it’s being reported that longtime NBC broadcaster Al Michaels could be getting poached by ESPN to join Troy Aikman in the Monday Night Football broadcast booth.
“ESPN is contemplating a pursuit of legendary play-by-player Al Michaels for “Monday Night Football,” The Post has learned.
No final decision on whether to fully engage Michaels has been made, according to sources.”
The article would go on to say that ESPN is expected to kick the tires on prying Joe Buck away from Fox before fully engaging on their Al Michaels pursuit. And given Buck’s obvious familiarity with Aikman from all their time together, perhaps that’s the most likely option.
But for fans, myself include, I think it’s time for a change. And what better two broadcasters could we pick to lead Monday Night Football than Troy Aikman and Al Michaels.
Make it happen, ESPN.
