Adam Schefter Trying to Track Down His Favorite Waitress From Indianapolis

Every year around this time you’ll find Adam Schefter covering the NFL combine. .

This year was a little different for  ESPN’s lead NFL reporter. Schefty has made a habit of eating at the same Japanese restaurant for over twenty years.

And each time he went to Mikado in Indy, he would have the same waitress, Agnes.

This year Schefter was disappointed to find out his tradition would be broken. The restaurant is now closed. On his latest podcast, the ESPN reporter shared that he was disappointed to see the restaurant was closed.

Schefter said he would have the same waitress every single year, Agnes, “who would always come over to us and give us a big hug and a kiss.”

“We got to know her. She got to know us,” Schefter said. “It had been a streak of 25 straight years with Agnes as our server.”

“Indianapolis has been greatly affected by the pandemic, as has much of the country. It seems to have hit that city quite hard … If there’s anybody from Indianapolis out there who knows what happened to Agnes, please let me know. I’m concerned. I hope she’s a server somewhere else. I hope I get to visit her another time. The Combine is not the same without Agnes.”

Good news for Schefter, Agnes has been located.

IndyStar reached out to the restaurant on Facebook, and was told Agnes now works at Harmony Steakhouse, a Japanese steakhouse in Whitestown.

“She is such a special individual and we still keep in touch with her, and we miss seeing her on a regular basis,” the restaurant said. “She had been with our restaurant since day one.”

National Football Scouting Inc. started what has become the Combine in 1982 to allow member organizations a centralized place to look at NFL Draft prospects. The event moved to Indianapolis in 1987 and has stayed there ever since.

Maybe Schefter will pay her a visit next year.
