Chelsea Supporters Write Scathing Letter To Team Regarding The Ricketts Family’s Attempt To Purchase Club

It’s safe to say Chelsea Fns are not happy about the Ricketts family’s attempt to buy their club.

When reports started circulating that the Cubs owners were embarking on a quest to try to scoop up Chelsea as an asset, fans swarmed social media to share their disgust.

Later in the week, the Chelsea fans took it a step further in trying to axe the idea of the Ricketts’ purchasing their beloved club.

The Chelsea Supporters Trust released a statement on why they feel the family should not be allowed to own the club, citing members of the family who have been on record for making racist comments at one point or another.

Check out the statement below:

Earlier in the week, the Ricketts family released a statement with hopes to prove to the Chelsea fan base that they’re the right people for the club.

“Our family rejects any form of hate in the strongest possible terms. Racism and Islamophobia have no place whatsoever in our society. We have developed deep and abiding partnerships with the Muslim community in Chicago, as well as with all communities of colour,” the statement read.

“Respect for diversity and inclusion are central to our family’s values. If we prevail in our bid for Chelsea, we commit to the Club and to the fans that we will actively promote these values.”

Despite the fans’ wishes for the Ricketts not to purchase their team, it was reported on Friday that they were on the short list of potential owners.

If the family closes the deal, expect Chelsea fans to be loud in their protest.
