Carson Wentz Reportedly Still Wants Out Of Philly Despite Coaching Change

Carson Wentz clearly wasn’t a fan of Doug Pederson. Now that Pederson is out as head coach of the Eagle, many were under the assumption that Wentz would stick around. According to reports, that’s not the case.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter revealed that Wentz still “wants to leave the franchise despite the team’s hiring of Nick Sirianni as their new coach. Here was the full quote from Schefter.

“And wants to leave the franchise. Okay? And that’s why the trade still is in play. And, again, people wondering where did this stuff come from at the end of the year. Was it made [up]? This is all real. None of this is made up,” Schefter said of Carson Wentz’ situation on 97.5 The Fanatic. “And just because he would like to be moved or hasn’t commented doesn’t mean he will be. If I had to guess, I would guess he is traded. That would be my guess. At some point this offseason. But, again, they’re not looking to get rid of him. They’re not.”

While a lot of teams would get an upgrade if Wentz was their starting quarterback, his contract could be a concern. In 2019, the Eagles gave Wentz a four-year $128 million contract extension, so it isn’t like your making a low-risk, high-reward move by trading for him.

If Carson Wentz does get moved, the Eagles might have to eat some of his contract. However, Schefter seems to think a trade is in the works.
