Manchester United Shocks Betting Community With Massive Underdog Win Over Liverpool On Monday

For the first time in the Erik ten Hag era, Manchester United has a Premier League win under their belts, and it comes at the most unlikely time.

After losing to Brentford and Brighton to open the Premier League slate, Manchester United somehow found away to pull a 2-1 upset victory out against a much more talented Liverpool squad in front of their home fans at Old Trafford today.

Before the match, Manchester United was a lofty +375 underdog, per Draftkings.

Before the win, the disgruntled Manchester United fan base held a protest against the Glazer family, who have owned the team since buying out shareholders between 2003-2005.

“They are ruining the history, traditions and culture of our great club and [we] will not stand by and watch our club rot away any longer,” said The 1958, a fan group that arranged Monday’s protest.

After the win Erik ten Hag admitted that he was impressed by what he saw from his club today, but they need to build on the upset win.

“I wanted a different attitude and that is what I saw them bring on the pitch,” said Ten Hag, who has started his tenure at United amid something of a crisis at England’s biggest club. “But it’s only the start.”

Amid all the misery they’ve had to endure over the past two seasons, it’s likely a breath of fresh air for the Manchester United faithful to be able to see a win of this magnitude. But if they don’t continue to put build on what they did well this afternoon, it’ll just be a small anecdote in another miserable season.
