Vikings GM Makes Questionable Comment About Kirk Cousins

It’s no secret that Kirk Cousins didn’t have the trust of former Vikngs coach Mike Zimmer. But it now appears that the new regime isn’t exactly sold not he veteran quarterback, either.

When speaking in an interview earlier in the week, new Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mansah made some interesting comments about worrying about the QB position.

“I’ll be frank. The one asset where you get nervous about not burning it down is quarterback,” he explained during a recent interview with USA Today Sports.

Adofo-Mansah added that he believes Kirk Cousins is a ‘good quarterback’, but being as he has Super Bowl aspirations, his expectations are pretty high for the signal-caller.

“[The Super Bowl] is more likely to win if you have that quarterback,” he added. “It’s very unlikely to have that quarterback.”

Kirk Cousins is coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2021, but has also developed a reputation as a guy who crumbles in the biggest games of the year.

Last year, Cousins’ Vikings put in another mediocre season, going 8-9 and letting the Packers run away with another NFC North division crown.

I’m sure Kirk Cousins is happy to be working with some new bosses this year, but by the sounds of it, he’s going to have to show them something special this upcoming season.
