NFLPA Calls Out League Over Embarrassing Condition Of Soldier Field

It was evident that an Elton John concert was too much for Soldier Field (the home of the Bears) to handle.

Following the Sir Elton concert last week, Soldier Field was trending during the Bears-Chiefs game when viewers were quick to notice the awful condition of the grass.

Shortly after, NFLPA president JC Tretter slammed the NFL for allowing the players to play in such poor conditions.

“The NFL said that this field met minimum testing standards,” Tretter tweeted. “We clearly need to reevaluate what is an acceptable surface for players to compete on. We need new testing metrics looking at the performance and safety of every field. The NFL can and should do better.”

Luckily for JC Tretter, the players, and the league, the days of the Bears playing at Soldier Field may be coming to an end in the near future.

After clashing with the city of Chicago about making the stadium more profitable, the team opted to buy land in nearby suburb, Arlington Heights.

While the Bears’ ownership has not started construction on building their new stadium in Arlington, all expectations are that the move is inevitable.

In the meantime, we can all continue to marvel at just how awful the grass is at Soldier Field.

Luckily, no players were hurt in the Bears’ 19-14 win over the Chiefs in today’s first preseason game for both teams.
