Mason Rudolph Trade Rumors: Steelers Reportedly Getting Calls From Teams About Backup Quarterback

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback room is starting to take shape. And unsurprisingly, Mason Rudolph appears to be the odd man out.

After a strong preseason showing from both Mitchell Trubisky and rookie Kenny Pickett, Rudolph seems destined to be the team’s third string quarterback heading into the season. But that isn’t to say he’s completely unwanted in the NFL.

According to reports, teams are actively calling Steelers general manager Omar Khan about a potential trade centered around Rudolph.

Per PFT:

“Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has not made any public announcements about who will start at quarterback against the Bengals in Week 1, but the likeliest choice is Mitch Trubisky and recent developments make it look like first-round pick Kenny Pickett will be the No. 2.

That pushes Mason Rudolph to No. 3 and it has reportedly led some teams to call the Steelers to see if they might want to part ways with the 2018 third-round pick. According to multiple reports from NFL Media, the Steelers have been hearing from teams interested in a potential trade for Rudolph.”

Contrary to the recent report, Khan has said that his plan is to go into the season with the three quarterbacks who competed for the job throughout Training Camp.

“You take calls, but I’ll be honest with you, we don’t have any intention of trading any of those guys,” Khan said on Au.g 13 via Steelers Depot. ” We really like them. There’s some decisions to be made, but I’d be surprised if anything happens down that path.”

Through the first three years of his career, Mason Rudolph has completed 61.5% of his passes, throwing 16 touchdowns to go along with 11 interceptions.
