Jets Reportedly Going to Make a Run at DK Metcalf

The New York Jets are reportedly in the market for a top flight receiver. They recently made a run at Tyreek Hill but fell short.

Enter DK Metcalf, who is one of the NFL’s young superstar receivers. Following the trade of Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, it appears that the Seahawks are in rebuilding mode. This means they may want to part ways with a few of their remaining assets.

The Seahawks have remained steadfast that their “intent” is to keep DK Metcalf. Not exactly a vote of confidence that they’ll keep him.

Via Pro Football Talk:

“The signals are there. Less than a month after coach Pete Carroll said the team has “no intention” to trade Russell Wilson, Carroll said as to Metcalf, “We intend for him to be with us.” Similarly, G.M. John Schneider said this week as to whether Metcalf will get an extension, “Yeah, that’s our intent.”

Intent is a present state of mind. Intent can change, quickly. And if the Jets want to offer the Seahawks for Metcalf whatever they were going to give the Chiefs for Hill, that could be enough to get the Seahawks to intend to accept New York’s best offer.”

DK to the Jets would be another receiver who loses fantasy value, although with Russ, who knows what DK will do this coming season.

If I’m DK I’m trying to lobby for the Seahawks to get a real QB in place, which at this point is slim pickings.
