ESPN insider Adam Schefter has had his fair share of controversial moments in recent years. But none bigger than his latest blip when reporting on Dwayne Haskins’ death.
Instead of sharing his condolences, Schefter used part of his initial tweet on Haskins to lament the fact that he had not panned out yet in the NFL.

While making an appearance on the “South Beach Sessions” podcast with Dan Le Batard and Davis Samson, former ESPN president John Skipper spoke on the past indiscretions of Adam Schefter and how they may or may not affect his pay.
Due to how valuable Schefter and NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski are to the company, Skipper doesn’t really think ESPN cares much about the controversies.
“I don’t think it cost him anything financially, any of the issues he had,” Skipper said.

John Skipper would go on to say how he viewed the Adam Schefter moments as “water cooler” talk type of thing. But the real value from guys like Schefter and Woj comes from breaking news faster than any of their competitors can.
Shortly after the Haskins backlash, Schefter finally released a statement of apology.
“I wish I could have that tweet back,” Schefter said. “The focus should have been on Dwayne — who he was as a person, a husband, a friend and so much more. I wanted to apologize to Dwayne’s family, his friends, the players in the NFL and offer my condolences to everyone close to Dwayne.”
As John Skipper made abundantly clear during his podcast session, it would take much, much more than the Dwayne Haskins moment for ESPN to even think about reprimanding Adam Schefter.
