Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Makes Last Ditch Effort To Keep Bears In The City

For the past year, the Chicago Bears have made headway on moving the team to nearby suburb, Arlington Heights, but now mayor Lori Lightfoot is trying some more to keep the team right where they’re at.

Earlier today, the city of Chicago released their latest proposal on a new stadium design sent to Bears ownership, with hopes of keeping them in the city.

“Soldier Field remains an incredible asset for City residents & visitors. These proposed renovations allow Soldier Field to retain its role as an economic engine for Chicago for years to come, allowing us to keep bringing sports, music, & other events to our world-class city,” Lightfoot said in a tweet.

Interestingly enough, Lori Lightfoot didn’t even mention the Bears in her tweet about Soldier Field renovations, which doesn’t bode well for any future negotiations.

Anyways, the Bears appear to be halfway out after already purchasing a major area in Arlington Heights, where they plan to build the new stadium.

It seems lie the only real way for Lori Lightfoot to keep the Bears in the city is if she were to offer the team ownership rights to Soldier Field, and that won’t happen anytime soon.
