It seems like every time JJ Redick goes on ESPN’s “First Take”, hilarity ensues.
During an argument with co-host Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, Redick was arguing against the case for former point guard Bob Cousy as one of the best of all-time.
During the rant, Redick ethered Russo by explaining that Cousy didn’t have nearly the same competition as players nowadays.
“Did he ever shot over 40 percent?” Redick asked Russo. To which the legendary radio host replied, “No, no… probably 39 percent. But it was a different game … he also had 29 assists in an NBA game.”
“Well, you know, he was being guarded by plumbers and firemen,” JJ shot back.

JJ Redick going from one of the most hated basketball players on the planet in college to fighting against Cousy evangelists is one the most miraculous redemption arcs I’ve ever witnessed. pic.twitter.com/pbDtMPy4yx

Mad Dog Russo: “Bob Cousy changed the game. Did Chris Paul do that? Cousy had 29 assists in an NBA game.”
JJ Redick: “Bob Cousy couldn’t dribble with his left hand … he was being guarded by plumbers and firemen.”

JJ Redick on ESPN First Take is one of the best decisions that ESPN has made in the past five years.

JJ Redick successfully put an end to Chris Russo’s argument with his hilarious comments. And I think it’s safe to say that we need to see more of him on ESPN.
I’m sure there will be more great debates coming throughout the course of the NBA Playoffs.
