Buster Posey Surprisingly Set To Announce Retirement

After a resurgent 2021 season from veteran catcher Buster Posey played a key role in the Giants having the top record in the MLB, Posey has a surprising announcement: he’s hanging up the cleats.

It was revealed on Wednesday afternoon that Posey was set to make his announcement on Thursday.

Shortly after the news dropped, fans shared their thoughts on the storied career of Buster Posey.

Buster Posey’s credentials speak for themself: he’s a three-time champion while playing the role of captain for the Giants, an MVP, and he played every year of his career with one team. In today’s MLB, Posey is a rare breed, and he’s proving it with his final disappearing act.

By retiring, Posey is opting to leave over $20 million on the table and foregoing what would undoubtedly be an emotional retirement tour. But he’s deciding that he simply has nothing left to prove playing the game, and given his history with concussions, Posey is deciding to return back to his family in one piece.

The game of baseball is going to miss Buster Posey dearly. And perhaps one day his career will be celebrated with a plaque in Cooperstown.
