Yankees Fans Embarrass Themselves With Lack Of Knowledge On Derek Jeter Ahead Of “The Captain” Series Finale

The Derek Jeter docuseries “The Captain” has led to a massive debate all over the web.

Of course, Yankees fans are fully all-in on their take that the shortstop is one of the greatest players of all-time, yet skeptics will point to his advanced analytics when trying to build a case that “The Captain” was vastly overrated throughout his entire career.

Even with all the love the Yankees fans have for Derek Jeter, perhaps they need to do some homework on their most beloved star.

Prior to the series finale of “The Captain” tonight, MLB podcast host Dan Sarmiento went around asking Yankees fans simple facts about Jeter. Surprisingly, they didn’t know most of the answers.

Check it out below:

Derek Jeter has had quite the eventful post-playing career.

Jeter was a first ballot Hall of Famer, inducted last year after his retirement in 2014. He was also the president of the Marlins, before stepping down from that role prior to this season due to a lack of seeing eye-to-eye with the team’s front office vision of where the team was supposed to be going moving forward.

Regardless of how you feel about Derek Jeter the player, it’s hard to really argue that he wasn’t one of the best winners we’ve seen in sports over the past few decades.

After tonight’s Field of Dreams Game, make sure to catch the last of “The Captain”, and we can all engage in debate throughout.
