MLB Fans Given Unfortunate Injury Update On Mets Ace Jacob deGrom

Jacob deGrom just can’t catch a break with the New York Mets.

Despite being the best pitcher in baseball for the past five years, deGrom hasn’t been given a competitive roster, but this year is supposed to be different.

After adding Max Scherzer to their rotation, the Mets figured to have a top 1-2 punch in the history of the game. But now, they’ll be without Jacob deGrom for some time.

It was announced on Friday afternoon that an MRI revealed that deGrom has a stress reaction in his right shoulder, taking him off the roster for Opening day.

MLB insider Jeff Passan would follow up his initial tweet by adding that Jacob deGrom will be shut down for the entire month of April before he’s re-evaluated by the Mets.

Unfortunately for MLB fans, no, this is not an April fools joke — Jacob deGrom will be missing significant time, once again, this season.

Looking at the situation with an optimistic eye, it’s easy to see that the addition of Scherzer is even bigger now. And the hope is that the Mets will be getting their ace back sometime before the All-Star break.

But given his history with injuries, it’s hard not to feel for Jacob deGrom and Mets fans everywhere.
