Bruce Arians Hints At Blaine Gabbert Replacing Tom Brady As QB1 In Tampa

Let the Blaine Gabbert revenge tour begin?

After spending the past two seasons as Tom Brady’s backup in Tampa Bay, Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians sounded confident that Gabbert can take over under center next season, if need be.

“People may not like the overall record, but Blaine had eight head coaches and eight coordinators his first eight years,” Arians said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “He beat Jacksonville their best year and beat Tennessee their big year for us in Arizona. And he’s been in the system now. I don’t have a problem there and let Kyle continue to grow. Either one. [Gabbert] has never played with a team this good. He’s got all the respect in the locker room that he can have.”

Blaine Gabbert’s last regular season start came in 2018 as a member of the Tennessee Titans.

He spent the first three seasons of his career in Jacksonville after being drafted in the first round to be their starting quarterback. But like Arians mentioned, Gabbert struggled with the revolving door of coaches and personnel. And to this day, he’s never quite found his footing in the NFL.

At 31-years-old, it’s hard to imagine that Blaine Gabbert would actually be Bruce Arians’ first option to replace Tom Brady. But for now, he’s leaving the possibility on the table.
