Russell Wilson Speaks On Reported Trade Request

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson dominated NFL headlines during the offseason when it was widely reported that he was unhappy with the way things were going with the organization. Wilson was said to have wanted more of a say in the offense, as well as roster decisions.

To very few fans’ surprise, Russell Wilson is still the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks. On Thursday, Russ told The Athletic that he never even formally requested a trade.

He also says that he is now ‘on the same page’ with Seahawks general manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll.

“We’re on the same page,” Russell Wilson said. “We’re here to do what we’re meant to do and that’s to win it all.”

It’s not like the whole thing was a non-story this offseason. Russel Wilson’s agent reportedly did give four teams that the quarterback would accept a trade to. Wilson also came out in an interview, saying he was “frustrated with getting hit too much.”

“Like any player, you never want to get hit,” Russell Wilson told reporters via Zoom in February. “That’s the reality of playing this position; ask any quarterback who wants to play this game. But at the same time, it’s part of the job and everything else. I think that the reality is that I’ve definitely been hit. I’ve been sacked almost 400 times, so we’ve got to get better. I’ve got to find ways to get better too.”

While Russell Wilson may have been pretty irked with how things were going in Seattle, he really isn’t the type to demand things. And I’d expect him to be all-in on the organization.

However, if the Seahawks start losing, don’t be shocked to see the Russell Wilson stories pop back up again.
