‘Certain Family Members’ Reportedly Want Zion Williamson Off The Pelicans

Zion Williamson is reportedly the latest young star who isn’t happy with his current situation in the NBA.

Just yesterday, Luka Doncic was reportedly upset after the Dallas Mavericks fired Donnie Nelson as general manager.

Now, the Zion Williamson reports are starting to surface.

According to reports, Zion is being influenced by ‘certain family members’ who want him on a more competitive team.

Per The Athletic:

“Sources say that certain family members of Zion Williamson want him on another team and that there’s been dysfunction within the Pelicans for months. Among the targets of the Williamsons’ criticism was head coach Stan Van Gundy, who they felt was too rigid and demanding, but also the organization, which they claim did not live up to what they felt should be the standard for a star like Williamson. Numerous opposing league executives had heard the complaints, and they were confirmed by Pelicans officials.”

While the Pelicans went ahead and fired Stan Van Gundy after just one season as head coach, people in Zion Williamson’s inner circle are allegedly still not sold on the direction of New Orleans.

If I’m the Pelicans front office, I’m bringing Zion Williamson in today, and asking him for any and all input on their next head coach.

Hell, I might even let Zion sit in on interviews with potential head coaches.

Bottom line: the Pelicans are nothing if they can’t build around Zion Williamson for the future.
