Yasiel Puig Ends Silence On Sexual Assault Allegations

Yasiel Puig has not appeared in an MLB game since 2018, but he was considered one of the best rising stars in the league at one point. A lot of Puigs’ demise stems from sexual assault allegations from an incident at a Lakers game in 2018.

Now, Puig is finally speaking on these allegations.

“I am speaking out now to defend my name against false and malicious allegations by a woman who claims I assaulted her in 2018,” he said on his Twitter account. “Let me be clear and set the record straight once and for all: These allegations are totally false, the evidence proves they are false, and I look forward to all the truth and facts coming out.”

His full lengthy statement was also posted.

Puig concluded his statement by saying that he still has a desire to “to play the game that I love so much.”

Yasiel Puig last played with the Reds and Indians in 2019. He was signed by the Atlanta Braves last season, but this deal was thwarted after he tested positive for COVID-19. Puig didn’t receive much interest in free agency, but his name is likely to come up throughout the year, as injuries are bound to affect many teams down the stretch.
