Women’s College Basketball Coach Accused of Abuse

More abuse in women’s basketball. Former Florida coach Cam Newbauer is being accused of abuse.

A reported toxic culture of verbal abuse toward players, assistant coaches and trainers, throwing basketballs at players, and singling out Black players for their choice of apparel are just a few of the accusations being directed at the former Florida coach. These and several other examples of abuse are being laid out in a new scathing report by the Independent Florida Alligator.

“The head coach is accused of making racist remarks, throwing basketballs at players during practices and verbally abusing the team, assistant coaches and trainers.

That coach was Cameron Newbauer. He resigned July 16, citing personal reasons. His resignation didn’t address any abuse allegations.”

Florida has responded to the story, and put out a statement acknowledging that it knew of “concerns” with Newbauer.

Is anyone looking out for these women?

We hope the women and those who survived Newbauer’s tenure find peace as they try to move on with their lives.

It’s a shame he got to quit on his own terms rather than  be fired for being abusive…
