WATCH: Ex-Star Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall Tries to Move Into New Home, Has Police Called on Him

I wish we could say “only in Florida” for this one, but we can’t. Former star NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall tried moving in to his new home in Weston, FL and promptly had the police called on him which can be seen in an Instagram video he shared:

An enraged Marshall says,

“This is the problem. This is the problem. I come here, you feel uncomfortable. My first day moving into my new house. Because my name’s not on the list you call the cops. Now you call the cops. No, you’re not trying to do your job. There was no threat for you to call the cops. This is what we are seeing every single day. This is what we are seeing every single day. I’ve got two kids in the car right now. We’re in Weston, Florida, one of the most affluent areas — yes, I know there’s other black people that live here. I know that.”

It’s unclear what happened prior to or after the incident and as many Instagram commenters replied, this is just a “SMDH” type of moment.

It’s hard to jump to any conclusions with out proper context of the situation, but from what can be seen from the video, it’s a stark reminder that the rich and famous are subject to this type of racial profiling. If anything, it gives some insight in to why many athletes felt the need to boycott games, knowing that they are just as vulnerable to this type of treatment and relaying the message of equality among all black people.

We’ll see if any details emerge later, but fortunately this incident didn’t result in any unnecessary violence.

Marshall was a longtime receiver in the NFL from 2006-2018 for the Broncos, Bears, Seahawks, Jets, & Giants recording more than 12,000 yards and 83 touchdowns in his career.
