Victor Oladipo is Looking for a Way Out of Indianapolis This Offseason

Indiana University alum and Pacers guard, Victor Oladipo, is reportedly looking to move on from the Pacers this offseason. After getting swept by the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat, Oladipo is ready to make his way out of Indianapolis. I can’t blame him. And some of the trade rumors are pretty interesting.

Jared Weiss of The Athletic speculated Oladipo could be part of a trade with the Boston Celtics. This trade would involve sending Gordon Hayward near his home in Indiana in a package that also includes draft picks.

Oladipo has received two All-Star selections in his three-year tenure with the Indiana Pacers. However, the star guarded has struggled with injury. Oladipo was pretty inconsistent in the 2019-2020 season, as he rebounded from a quad injury that caused him to miss an entire season. He was a solid contributor in the playoffs, averaging 17.8 points per game. But he was still the second fiddle to T.J. Warren and his efforts did not keep the Pacers from being swept out of the first round.

Despite just one year remaining on Oladipo’s contract, there hasn’t been much noise in regards to an extension. Oladipo is only 28 years old, however, he hasn’t proven that he can be a true number one option on a given team. If he can’t do it in Indianapolis, I doubt he has the ability to get it done for a larger market team that already has at least one other star player. Having said that, he is definitely a solid number two. Oladipo could be a good compliment to someone like a Zach Lavine in Chicago. He definitely has the talent, he just needs to steer clear of the injury bug.
