UCLA Gymnast Nia Dennis Breaks Social Media With ‘Black Excellence’ Routine

The UCLA women’s gymnastics team is consistently one of the best in the country. Today, they showed why. The Bruins team is trending all over social media today over one of their members’ routine.

Nia Dennis broke out all the moves during a routine that was a tribute to black culture. The Bruins tweeted out Dennis’s routine with the caption, ““This is what #blackexcellence looks like.”

 

Dennis, a senior at UCLA, started her performance with Kendrick Lamar, but it also featured Beyonce, Missy Elliott, Soulja Boy, Tupac, and Megan Thee Stallion.

Nia Dennis explained her routine after the competition.

“This routine definitely reflects everything that I am today as a woman,” Dennis said via Yahoo.“and of course I had to incorporate a lot of parts of my culture. I wanted to have a dance party because that’s my personality and of course I had to shout out LA because we out here, UCLA.”

Nia Dennis and the UCLA Bruins are off to a strong start to their PAC 12 season. Props to Nia Dennis for a truly unique routine. She appears to have a bright future ahead of her.
