Tom Izzo Tries to Explain Heated Exchange With Player During March Madness Loss

Tom Izzo’s old school mentality is being questioned after an incident he had with one of his players. The cameras caught the legendary coach getting into heated exchange with his junior forward Gabe Brown heading into the tunnel at halftime. Izzo can be seen in Brown’s ear with his arm around this waist, causing an upset Brown to try to pull away and Izzo getting a hand of his jersey. Izzo then chased after Brown toward the back of the tunnel to say a little more. Brown apparently heard him coming, turned around, and appeared to saying something angrily back at his coach.

See the incident below:

Izzo explained what went down following the game:

“He missed a play and I told him. He walked away and I told him to come back,” he said, via the Detroit Free Press. “We went through this a couple of years ago. A game like that, that’s the question you’re going to ask me? I guess I’ll answer it because the media has the right to ask whatever question.

Izzo got into similar confrontation with Aaron Henry during the 2019 NCAA Tournament, but his former players defended the coach’s actions on Thursday.

Brown was not made available to reporters after the game.

Interesting, would love to know what he had to say. . .
