Chicago Bears Reportedly Front Runners For Carson Wentz Trade Due ‘In the Coming Days’

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz may not be the most exciting option for teams in need of a starter, but it looks like he’ll be the next domino to fall in what will likely be a busy offseason. Wentz is coming off a truly awful campaign in 2020, but teams appear to be confident they can get Wentz back to where he was from 2017-19, when he was a solid passer in the league. The Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts have both been tied to Wentz, with the Bears currently having the better offer on the table.

On Saturday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that a Wentz deal was very close.

“Eagles are expected to trade Carson Wentz in the coming days in what would be the latest blockbuster QB deal to rock the NFL, sources tell @mortreport and me. The most pertinent questions now become where, when and for what. But it could happen as early as this week,” Schefter tweeted out.

If the Chicago Bears plan to move forward with Carson Wentz as their “guy”, it would be an extremely unpopular move from a fans’ perspective. However, Wentz has had a lot of success working with Bears coach John DeFlilippo in the past, which may be the driving factor in the potential deal.

The Bears wouldn’t be expecting Wentz to play at the level he played in 2017, when he was an MVP contender before going down with an injury. They would be hoping that he can get back to 2019 form, when he was much better than 2020. Trading for Carson Wentz looks and feels like a move the Chicago Bears would make. Fans need to be prepared to brace themselves. Of course, the Philadelphia Eagles may choose to let the market develop further. Stay tuned, the offseason is just getting started.
