Tennessee Titans’ Fourth-Round Pick Rashad Weaver Charged With Assault For Allegedly Punching Woman

The Tennessee Titans might want a mulligan on their fourth round pick. Rashad Weaver, who was drafted by the Tennessee Titans over the weekend, has been charged with one count of simple assault in connection with an April incident on the South Side. According to the report, police officers found a woman lying on the ground surrounded by a group of people at 2:28 a.m. April 18 on South 17th Street between East Carson and Bingham streets.

Those at the scene said a large man, later identified as Mr. Weaver, punched the woman, Demetria Navjelis.

Weaver was not on the scene when the police arrived.

The incident allegedly was a result of Weaver and the female getting into a disagreement at the bar.

According to Weaver, the woman threw her drink on him while they were arguing. The woman told the police that she spilled her drink on Weaver.

The Titans responded to the news:

“We were made aware of this news this morning,” the Titans said in a statement Monday. “We obviously take this seriously and are in the process of gathering details and working with the league.”

Weaver was selected by the Titans with the 135th overall pick after a standout career at the University of Pittsburgh.
