The death of Michael K. Williams shocked and saddened me. He added a compelling intensity to every role. Although most people will remember him from “The Wire” or “Boardwalk Empire,” I especially appreciated him in the overlooked noirish TV series “Hap and Leonard.”

Michael K. Williams was reportedly found in his Brooklyn apartment by a relative following a suspected drug overdose.

The highly respected actor was not only a big sports fan, but had worked with many former and current athletes in various ways.

Williams’ imprint on the Hollywood scene will forever be felt after his powerful roles in “The Wire”, as well as other popular appearances in “12 Years a Slave,” “Assassin’s Creed” and “The Gambler.”
