Genevieve Beacom, 17, has broke some serious ground today after becoming the first female to pitch professionally for the Melbourne Aces in Australia.
Beacom came in to the game in the top of the 6th inning with one man on base. She was able to record a ground out but then walked the next batter. She was able to follow up the walk with another ground ball out and finished the inning with a fly out to end the inning.
The left-hander work an impressive inning of work to keep the Aces within striking range.

Unfortunately for Beacom and the Aces, they were unable to put together any sort of comeback and fell 7-1 to the Adelaide Giants.
Beacom was calm during her post-game interview and relayed that her main focus was shutting down the Giants.

Beacom’s name will no doubt be part of a quiz show question later in life. The best part is that she is just 17 and clearly has some good stuff on the mound.
