Security Guard Chokes Cameraman Trying To Capture A-10 Championship Celebration

As if this year wasn’t bizarre enough for the sports world, this story has just added to the weirdness we’ve endured.

When St. Bonaventure was celebrated their A-10 Championship, a cameraman, who was trying to capture the moment, was restrained by a security guard with a chokehold.

One of the most bizarre sports photos you will ever see: A security guard at the Atlantic 10 Title Game put a cameraman in a chokehold as he was filming St. Bonaventure's on-court celebration.

St. Bonaventure defeated VCU in the championship game 74-65.

After the game, the A-10 said they were ‘aware’ of the situation.

“We’re aware and we’re looking into it with Dayton,” Drew Dickerson, assistant commissioner of the A-10, wrote in an email via Total pro Sports.

Buffalo News had some more information on the cameraman situation.

“As Bonnies players and coaches celebrated the win on the court under the basket, a videographer – later identified as Nathan DeSutter, the digital media director for the Bona athletic department – appears to attempt to move toward the group, according to video of the incident posted on social media. The security guard stands in front of him to prevent him from getting closer, and DeSutter spins away in order to continue shooting. The sequence is then repeated.”

Now, we don’t have all the facts on this situation, but it’s definitely not the best look for the security guard here.

St. Bonaventure drew a #9 seed for the NCAA Tournament, and will play LSU in the first round of March Madness. We’ll see if their cameraman is able to be there for the game.
