Rumors Surface About Jimmy Butler, Rachel Nichols

Rachel Nichols has been in the news a lot this past week, and now fans are catching wind of a wild rumor involving her and Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler.

The rumor seemingly started after Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns got into it during a game, and Towns told his former T-Wolves teammate to “call Rachel Nichols.”

The Jimmy Butler/Rachel Nichols rumor comes at an interesting time. Nichols has been under fire after a leaked video caught her talking about the decision ESPN made to give her colleague, Maria Taylor, more roles during the NBA Finals.

Nichols basically claimed that Maria Taylor only got the hosting gig for last year’s NBA Finals because ESPN wanted to look more diverse.

She would later apologize during her daily show “The Jump.”

“So the first thing they teach you in journalism school is don’t be the story. And I don’t plan to break that rule today or distract from a fantastic Finals,” Rachel Nichols said. “But I also don’t want to let this moment pass without saying how much I respect, how much I value our colleagues here at ESPN. How deeply, deeply sorry I am for disappointing those I hurt, particularly Maria Taylor, and how grateful I am to be part of this outstanding team.”

It remains to be seen if there is any legitimacy to this Jimmy Butler story. But one thing is for sure: Rachel Nichols is very much under the microscope right now.
