Suspension Revealed For Buddy Boeheim Following Cheap Shot In ACC Tournament

Syracuse sharp shooter Buddy Boeheim is being trashed all over the web today following the team’s win over Florida State on Wednesday afternoon.

During the game, Boeheim was seen throwing a bunch towards an FSU player following a scrap underneath the net.

Despite the fact that there was no call on the floor, the ACC reviewed the play. And later in the day, it was announced that Buddy Boeheim has since been suspended for the game against Duke on Thursday.

Before being suspended, Buddy Boeheim released a statement — where he shared some regret for throwing the punch.

“In the heat of today’s game, after some shoving in the lane, I swung my arm while turning to go back up the court,” Boeheim said in the statement. “It was wrong to act out in frustration. I apologized to Wyatt Wilkes multiple times in the handshake line. He said not to worry about, but I know it was wrong. I pride myself in respecting the game ands our opponent. I will not react that way again.”

Buddy Boeheim’s father and longtime Syracuse head coach, Jim Boeheim, gave his son the benefit of the doubt when speaking on the play after the game.

“The kid (Wilkes) pushed him twice and he swung around and hit him,” Jim Boeheim said. “I think it was inadvertent, but that’s okay.”

The suspension will undoubtedly be a huge blow for Syracuse, as it’s hard to imagine they’ll have much of a chance against this Duke team without Buddy Boeheim on the floor.
