Police Investigating Canadian Football League Player Jumping Into Concourse To Fight Fan

Toronto police have issued trespassing charges after an altercation between fans and two Argonauts players.

Part of the incident was caught on video, and apparently shot following the Hamilton Tiger-Cats beating Toronto 27-19 to advance to this weekend’s Grey Cup.

It appeared to show Argos defensive back Chris Edwards taking a swing at a fan, and receiver Dejon Brissett giving him a shove before venue security intervene.

“The Toronto Argonauts, in conjunction with MLSE security, the CFL league office and local police, are investigating a post-game incident involving team personnel and visiting fans. The club will issue a statement once the investigation is complete and any outcomes are determined,” said a team spokesperson.

A CFL spokesperson said the league is aware of the incident and is reviewing it.

Toronto police say two individuals were charged with trespassing and removed from the facility. Because this is an going investigation, additional charges can be laid at a later date.

“At the end of the game, two men allegedly jumped a barricade and were attempting to fight with players,” said Const. Edward Parks in an email to the Star.

Looks like fans behaving badly isn’t just an American sports thing.
