Pitcher Out Indefinitely After Punching Dugout Bench

When you make your living with your hands, never punch a bench. Atlanta Braves will be without pitcher Huascar Ynoa after he punched their dugout bench on Sunday and fractured his right hand, the team announced on Monday. Ynoa was placed on the 10-day injured list, though Braves manager Brian Snitker said he will be out for several months.

Ynoa gave up nine hits and five runs in less than five innings last weekend.

He then punched the dugout bench after he was pulled from the game, and broke a bone in his pitching hand.

“He just got a little frustrated after his outing yesterday,” Snitker said, via Bally Sports. “Punched the seat in the dugout, broke his hand … I hate to see that. The young guy was doing so good. It’s going to be a big loss for us.”

He explained what went down:

“It just felt like some pitches weren’t going my way, or falling in the spots I wanted to,” Ynoa said after the game, via The Athletic. “But at the same time, you have to give credit to the hitters on the other team … I was missing spots.”

You live and you learn.

Add it to the list of dumb sport injuries.
