Nikola Jokic Tests Positive for COVID-19, Return to U.S. Delayed

According to Woj, Denver Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic has tested positive for COVID-19 in Serbia and his return to the U.S. has been delayed.

This comes out the same day that it was reported that fellow Serbian superstar athlete Novak Djokovic tested positive for COVID-19 after holding a tennis tournament in Croatia. It’s likely no coincidence that Jokic and Djokovic both tested positive after being spotted pretty close together just last week.

Jokic was recently spotted looking rather trim compared to when we last saw him on the court for the Nuggets in March and is reportedly asymptomatic.

We are all hopeful of an “NBA bubble” restart in late July in Orlando, but it’s hasn’t been without hurdles to say the very least. Commissioner Adam Silver has stated that the NBA should not return if a few positive tests are going to derail the restart so this case in particular isn’t of tremendous concern. However, the growing case totals in Florida and the Orlando area are of much bigger concern.

Jokic will likely have enough time to recover before the Nuggets take the floor for their first games of the NBA restart.
