New York Mets Reportedly Interested In Bringing In Kris Bryant This Offseason

Could Kris Bryant end up in Queens this offseason?

The New York Mets have a lot of issues right now: a midseason collapse last year led to missing the playoffs, they’ve had to fire their GM and interim GM over off-the-field issues, and they’re currently looking for a new manager.

But according to several different reports, the team’s ownership is still looking to be aggressive this offseason. And they’re planning on meeting with super agent Scott Boras about a potential Kris Bryant deal.

Per The New York Post:

“The Mets’ need for a right-handed bat, third-base upgrade and versatility all point to Kris Bryant as a strong fit for a lineup that underperformed in 2021.

Bryant, 29, is among the players the Mets are expected to discuss with agent Scott Boras this week at the GM meetings, which convened Monday. Team president Sandy Alderson, who is heading the Mets delegation as the club still searches for a baseball operations head, is scheduled to speak with reporters on Tuesday β€” his first press conference since the regular season concluded.”

Kris Bryant was traded by the Cubs to the Giants at the Trade Deadline after spending his first seven seasons in Chicago.

During his 51 games with San Francisco, Bryant batted .262 with seven home runs.

According to ESPN’s projections, Kris Bryant is due for about a five year contract worth $90 Million or so. But something tells me Boras will be able to do better than that.

Will the Mets be the team to shell out for KB?
