Miami Heat Center Udonis Haslem (#40) celebrated his 40th birthday today and will be the oldest player on the court when the NBA season resumes on July 31 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. Heat Nation, and the NBA community, are doing their best to make sure Haslem has a happy birthday, even in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic.

Udonis Haslem joins a short list of just 29 NBA players to play professionally into their 40s. The list includes players like Michael Jordan, Jason Kid, Jason Terry, Dirk Nowitzki, Robert Parrish, Dikembe Mutombo, Steve Nash, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Manu Ginobli, Grant Hill, Tim Duncan, fellow Miami Heat player Juwan Howard, and finally, Vince Carter.

Earlier this season, Vince Carter (43) became the first man to play an NBA game in four different decades and confirmed that this season would be his last. With the Atlanta Hawks eliminated from the newly proposed 22 team playoff race, Udonis Haslem will officially be the oldest player in the NBA when the players get back on the hardwood at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. While it is a Happy Birthday to Udonis Haslem, it is also a farewell to Vince Carter.
