Longtime college football coach Mark Richt took to social media on Thursday afternoon to reveal some troubling newsâhe has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
The former Miami and Georgia coach said that he knew he had to let people in on his secret when he was getting questions on why he was, “waddling around.”

âI have been waddling around lately and people have asked me whatâs wrong,â Mark Richt said in the statement. Iâve decided to tell everyone at the same time. I have been diagnosed with Parkinsonâs. Truthfully I look at it as a momentary light affliction compared to the future glory in heaven. Thank you Jesus for promising us a future blessing of a glorified body that has no sin and no disease. In the meantime I am going to enjoy the blessings that I do have. See you on the ACC Network!â

Mark Richt had very successful tenures at both Georgia and Miami. But ultimately decided that it would be in his best interest to transition to a broadcasting role.
Richt has been doing work with the ACC Network since 2019, and it appears that he had no intention of stepping away, even after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
