Mariah Carey Spills the Beans on Relationship with Derek Jeter in New Memoir

Singer Mariah Carey was one of the many women who received a gift basket from MLB legend Derek Jeter. The songstress one of the many celebs Jeter dated during his playing days. Now we’re starting to learn about what actually went down between the two.

The singer opened up about their time together in detail in her new book, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” revealing how the two met and arranged secret rendezvous while she was still married to Tommy Mottola.

“The Yankees shortstop, 46, had a longtime crush on Carey, 50, hanging her posters in his bedroom as a teen, and even had a game plan to marry her.

“‘I had this plan,’ he told me. ‘I was going to come to New York. I was going to get on the Yankees. I was going to meet you, and I was going to steal you away from Tony Sony’ — his name for Tommy (Mottola, Carey’s first husband) — ‘and then we were going to get married.’”

The couple dated from 1997 to 1998, yet it was an enormously important relationship for Carey, who was coming off an allegedly emotionally abusive and controlling marriage to music exec Mottola.

“It was so sensual,” Carey writes of their time together. “Everything was so new and sweet, down to the smooth texture of his honey-dropped skin … It was so heady, so intoxicating, and I was so vulnerable. I was in touch with a fire I didn’t know I had inside.”

Carey calls her time with Jeter “a short and sweet dream.””

Jeter is now happily married with children, and a part owner of the Miami Marlins.

What could have been if these two would have made it last.

They were at one time a pretty powerful duo. Jeets’ off the field conquests are truly legendary.
