Toronto Maple Leafs Coach Sheldon Keefe Gives Update On John Tavares

While we have had a lot of great playoff hockey tonight, the main concern is over Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares.

Tavares was taken off the ice on a stretcher Thursday night after taking an inadvertent knee to the face from Canadiens forward Corey Perry.

After the Maple Leafs lost 2-1 to the Canadiens in Game One, all anyone wanted to know was how John Tavares was doing. Coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed that the captain was taken to a nearby hospital, and that he was communicating with people around him. He will remain in the hospital for the time being.

I’m not really sure what it means that the tests were ‘clear’. You would think that Tavares has a concussion, at the very least. Maybe they were testing for potential brain bleeds, skull fractures, etc.

Needless to say, this is some decent news on John Tavares.

We’ll continue to look for any updates on the Leafs captain after the scary injury.
